Since living away from my parents, I've found that I eat a lot less meat. One of the reasons is that, while I'm confident in my baking and general cooking skills, cooking meat has always left me unsure. I mean, you can mess up a stir fry and still have it be good, but messing up a steak or chicken of fish could leave you with a rather unpleasant result. So I've been looking for recipes that look promising, and this was one of the ones I came across. When I saw this one, I just knew, I had to try it, and the sooner the better.
Long story short, I made it, it was easy and awesome. Then I made it again, and the washers asked for the recipe and they've made it a couple of times, and then I made it a few more times, and just.. man. If you like salmon, you can't go wrong with this. You really really can't.

Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds raw salmon
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 garlic cloves, grated
1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
1-2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
4 green onions, sliced
Directions
- In a large bowl or baking dish, combine olive oil, toasted sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, vinegar and brown sugar, and whisk together. Add the salmon to the dish and cover, or place the whole in a ziplock bag, and refrigerate and marinate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the broiler in your oven (or you BBQ). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack over top, then spray with nonstick spray.
- Remove salmon with kitchen tongs and place directly on wire rack. Sprinkle with a bit of salt and pepper and place directly under the broiler. Cook for 10-12 minutes, until opaque and easily flakable with a fork. You can flip the salmon halfway through (I'd advise this).
- Remove and serve immediately, with a sprinkling or toasted sesame seeds, green onions and the glaze below. (DO make this glaze, it's delicious.)
Sesame Ginger Honey Glaze
1/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
Combine them all in a small bowl or a creamer (aka something small-ish with a spout), whisk together well, and pour over salmon (and everything else ever).
