I really like lemonade, especially in the summer (I mean, who doesn't?). I've always wanted to try to make my own, as storebought ones can vary drastically between delicious and 'wtf is this fake lemon flavoured sugar water?', and I desired something more constant. And cheap. A friend and I were browsing a hilariously old cookbook of hers, and under a long recipe for lemonade, there was this short version, which I promptly went home to try. I was not disappointed, although I'd suggest you keep adding water, a cup or so at a time, to taste, as the original is a little too sweet for consuming copious amounts of it - which I of course plan to do.
Ingredients
2 lemons
1/2 cup sugar
4 cups boiling water
Directions
- Slice up the two lemons into thin round slices, place them in a heatproof pitcher.
- Add sugar, then the boiling water. Stir stir stir and maybe squash the lemon slices a bit with your spoon. Let it sit on the counter until the water has cooled.
- Put in fridge to awesome-ify, and before pouring yourself a lovely glass, add some cold water to taste (I'd say at least 1 more cup).
