I actually think this recipe came from Mirjam. The very best thing to have with your afternoon cuppa tea.
Ingredients
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cream of tartar
½ tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
2 Tbsp shortening
¼ cup currents (optional)
½ cup sour milk (add 1 tsp vinegar to milk 15 minutes before using)
Directions
1. Mix dry ingredients together.
2. Crumble in shortening with your fingers or a fork.
3. Add currents, if using.
4. Add milk all at once.
5. Form into a ball on a floured surface.
6. Roll out into a ¾-inch thick circle and cut into 8 wedges.
7. Cook in a dry thick frying pan on medium heat until lightly browned. Turn over and brown the other side.
Serve with butter, Devon cream, jams and preserves.
