Beer Butt BBQ Chicken - Jim


This one’s is simple and is a great conversation piece. Trust me…you will definitely think of Mr. Bean when you see this on the BBQ….remember Mr. Bean's Christmas??

Ingredients

One or two whole small chickens
One or two cans of beer (pour out about 1/3 cup from each into a glass for drinking)
Add any old spices into can to flavour the beer
Make a basting sauce to brown outside (1 egg mixed with spices and a little oil)

Directions

1. Sit the chicken on the can of beer (yes that’s right …up the butt), and place the chicken(s) on a med pre-heated BBQ. Cook on medium to med-low heat. Stand around with the boys and talk about all your favourite Mr. Bean scenes, which will probably lead into your favourite Monty Python series and quickly digress into other topics that will surely keep the girls from gathering around.
2. Let cook for about 1.5 hours standing up. Baste the outside of the chickens with your favourite sauce after about 1 hour.

Notes
· You may have to lean the 2 chickens into each other so they don’t fall.
· You may have to remove the upper rack so there is room for the chickens to stand (do this before you drink beer and before the grill gets hot!!).
As the beer heats up, it will steam the chickens and I guarantee juicy meat.
